Building on earlier efforts to establish a unified, pan‑national voice for graduate students and postdoctoral scholars in Canada’s medical schools, learners—supported by AFMC—have continued advancing the Canadian Association of Health Science Trainees (CaHST).

Since its formation, an Interim Leadership Group (ILG), composed of representatives from faculties of medicine across the country, has led foundational work to define the organization’s objectives, constitution, and governance structure, and to support the transition toward a permanent model.

To ensure CaHST reflects learner priorities, the ILG is currently developing a national survey for graduate students and postdoctoral scholars. The survey will gather input on the key challenges trainees face and how the organization can best support advocacy, connection, and communication across the health research system.

Learners are encouraged to remain engaged as CaHST establishes its social media presence and continues outreach to the trainee community nationwide.
