The next International Congress on Academic Medicine (ICAM) is happening in Ottawa in April 2026. Last year, the congress brought together more than 1400 participants from 15 countries, including over 450 learners. ICAM continues to be an important hub where medical learners and leaders share their work, gain profile, and build their networks.

ICAM offers a diverse array of abstract tracks on medical education and health research topics. Learners are invited to submit oral presentations, workshop proposals, or research posters.

The deadline to submit an abstract in medical education is September 21, 2025. The portal to submit abstracts to the health research track will open later this fall. Pitch your work, obtain real-time feedback, and connect with collaborators and mentors for future growth!

In addition, ICAM hosts a Research Poster Competition, providing learners with the unique opportunity to compete for a prestigious Gairdner Award, attend Gairdner Science Week in Toronto, and be nominated to participate in the internationally acclaimed Lindau Nobel Prize Meeting in Germany.

ICAM delegates who are in school full-time (medical/graduate/MD PhD/CIP/MD+ students, fellows, residents, and postdoctoral scholars) and who are not employed full-time by an academic institution or organization qualify for a reduced Learner/Community registration rate.
