MEDPREPP emerged from the success of CANPREPP. After seeing just how transformative CANPREPP was for residency applicants, we recognized a bigger challenge. We heard it from students, organizations, partners, and saw it clearly in AFMC’s own data. It is no secret, the pathway to medical school in Canada can be challenging to navigate; learners across Canada are frustrated.
MEDPREPP was created to change that and to help alleviate some of that stress. It connects the dots across the full academic medicine pathway, from the major milestones to the small steps in between. We exist because supporting medical students matters and because strengthening medical education in Canada is a foundational mission of AFMC.

MEDPREPP is still growing. We are actively mapping every stage of the academic medicine pathway and organizing the most trusted resources into one unified hub. Over the coming months, you’ll see new tools and checklists, new resources, and a more magnified look at the pathway from secondary school to independent practice.
Our next steps include launching learner‑driven improvements through our advisory group, connecting and collaborating with organizations that offer valuable student focused support and resources, and continuing to expand the platform so every future doctor in Canada can navigate their journey with confidence.
